TREC Faculty may contact Dawn and Robin for:

  • Research instruction (in-person)* -  TREC instructors may request librarians for how-to research demonstrations using Ebsco related to a specific course-assignment. For example, librarians can demonstrate search strategies students can apply on their own to locate, request full-text articles and cite sources using Ebsco (Orijin) databases on their tablets.

*We will do our best to accommodate research instruction requests based on our availability and schedule.

In the event we are not able to provide in-person research instruction, librarians are glad to arrange alternatives such as:

  • Meeting one-on-on with students for research consultations during Learning Labs
  • Producing video tutorials and handouts for instructors to upload onto D2L Orijin to share with their classes (see options below)

How to book a librarian for in-person research instruction:

Email either Robin (Faribault), robin.gee@metrostate.edu or Dawn (Lino Lakes), dawn.wing@metrostate.edu  at least three weeks in advance of your preferred date(s) of visit.

In your email booking, please also include:

- An attachment or description of the actual assignment posted to students

- A list of " top 3" preferred dates for research instruction

- Other pertinent information to help librarians tailor presentations to your students' academic needs.

  • Referring students for one-on-one, in-person research consultations during Learning Labs. Please check in with either Robin (Faribault) or Dawn (Lino Lakes) in advance to confirm our specific Learning Lab visitation dates by facility.

  • Connecting with students via Orijin D2L to provide individual research help and library resources for course assignments

  • Producing online video tutorials and/or PDF handouts on developing search strategies, evaluating/citing sources, etc.

  • Troubleshooting any issues with using Metro State library resources

Important note: Metro State librarians do not handle streaming media requests from TREC faculty or students.
