What is MetroWorks?

The purpose of MetroWorks is to collect, preserve, and provide digital access to the scholarly and creative works of Metro State University's faculty, staff, and students.

As an institutional repository, MetroWorks is an online open access archive that: 

  • showcases the diversity of scholarship and creativity of the university,
  • supports the intellectual and creative output of Metro State University faculty and students, and
  • provide an open and freely accessible platform to share widely.

What can I find in MetroWorks?

MetroWorks contains:

  • Faculty and staff scholarly and creative works, including:
    • Citations to articles, books, book chapters, technical or research reports, or other works.
    • Full-text versions of works as allowed under U.S. copyright law and publisher policies, such as preprints, author's original manuscripts, post-prints, author's accepted manuscripts, conference presentations, white papers, technical reports, etc.
  • Select works produced by students from the time that they are enrolled at the university up to the date of graduation, including:
    • Culminating projects created to meet degree requirements, including graduate theses, dissertations, and capstone projects.
    • Student Research Conference papers and presentations.
  • Open access (OA) articles and books and Open Educational Resources (OER) created by faculty, staff, and students during their time at the university.
  • On-campus conference proceedings and recordings.

Why should I submit works to MetroWorks? What are the benefits?

Visibility and discoverability

Adding your work to MetroWorks will increase the visibility and discoverability of your work, and the work of your department and the work of your students. Works are indexed by Google, Google Scholar, and other major search engines and can be easily found all in one centralized place.

Dissemination

Placing a publication in MetroWorks allows for fast and effective dissemination of scholarship and creative works to a worldwide audience. MetroWorks is a supplement to traditional publication venues. MetroWorks is a showcase of the intellectual and creative output of the university.

Accessibility

MetroWorks provides 24/7 access to scholarship and research with permanent links to your work. Even if you have already published a work, you can provide open access to a global audience by placing your work in MetroWorks. MetroWorks is not subscription-based and there is no charge for access.

  • Creators will see from where their content is being viewed and the number of downloads.
  • Scholars and students on-campus and around the global can learn what research and creative projects are being conducted at Metro State University.
