Spring 2026, EDU325/330 MPS with Prof. Sarah Miller: Assignments Overview

Major assignment overview:
Students will be creating a literacy (reading, writing, speaking, listening) project. Their literacy project will need to highlight quality, diverse children's literature. Twenty-five children's books honoring diverse perspectives are required.
They will also need to have their project grounded in literacy theory such as:
  • reader's response
  • critical literacy
  • historically responsive literacy
They will need to have peer-reviewed research to support their theory framework for the final literacy project.
 
*Related assignment:  Students need to select 4 quality picture books and practice their read-aloud skills (2 in-person read-alouds and 2 video-recorded read-alouds).
