Metro State Resources

Note: Some of these services are only available to Metro State University students, faculty, or staff and may require a StarID and password. Academic Technology 

A Metro State department that partners with faculty and staff to provide excellent online programs. They offer support with D2L/Brightspace, designing online courses, and more.

Common Craft 

A database of short instructional videos on technology. Topics range from Twitter to VPNs, encryption, and more.

 

Game Night 

A free gaming event that is open to the public and held on the third Wednesday of every month from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Fireplace Lounge of the Library and Learning Center. Patrons can play NES, SNES, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation systems. See the tutorial video below for more details.

 

IET Service Center 

Institutional Effectiveness and Technology provides technology support and services across campus. Their Knowledge Base is full of help articles on common topics. Check their Service Center page for information on how to contact them for assistance.

Kanopy

A digital streaming service full of documentaries and educational films available to current Metro State students and staff. See the tutorial video below for more information.

 

LearningExpress Computer Skills Center 

A database with video courses on Microsoft and Adobe products. 

 

LinkedIn Learning 

This "Netflix for tutorials" website hosts thousands of up-to-date videos by industry professionals on hundreds of different tech skills. Videos typically include subtitles and transcripts with adjustable playback speed. See the tutorial video below for more details.

 

New York Times Online

Current Metro State students and staff enjoy complete digital access to The New York Times. See the tutorial video below for information on how to access this benefit.

 

Virtual Lab 

A digital service that allows Metro State students to log into a Metro State computer from outside of campus, granting them access to software like Adobe Creative Cloud and others wherever they are. See the tutorial video below for a demonstration on how to access the lab. Important: Do NOT save anything to the Virtual Lab, as it does not save files long-term. Save them to your own computer, a flash drive, the student "H" drive, or a cloud-based storage service like OneDrive instead.
