Library building: Hours and access

The Metro State Library will be completely closed for remodeling from Dec. 12 through Jan. 2.

The Dayton's Bluff branch of the St. Paul Public Library will also be closed during that time.

The Metro State bookstore will be open some during the week of Dec. 12.

Library building access:

  • The Metro Library is now open to community members as well as students, alumni, and staff.
  • The first two hours of Mondays through Thursdays are student/staff access only. (Use your ID card to access.)
  • Use your university ID at the card readers at the ground floor east entrance (parking lot side) to enter. Security personnel are on-hand to assist. 
  • Masks are no longer required, but are welcome.
  • If you do not have a university ID, get one by mail.

Metro State Library hours Fall 2022 (August 20 through December 10):

  • Monday through Thursday: OPEN 8 a.m.--8 p.m. (public hours start at 10am)
  • Friday and Saturday: OPEN 10 a.m.--6 p.m.
  • Sundays: CLOSED
  • Holiday Closures: November 24, 25, 26, 27.
  • CLOSED December 12 through January 2.

The Metro State Library is now open for public use starting at 10 a.m. See the 2nd floor circulation desk if you need an ID. (Mondays through Thursdays 8 a.m.-10 a.m. is student/staff use only.) See Dayton's Bluff branch access as well.
